Stamp forming is involved in a lot of industry fields. In other countries, it is called sheetforming. Stamp forming process is achieved by the stamping molds. And the stamp formingprocess has a high degree of complexity and consistency, low cost and energy consumption, and the other process can’t be compared with. And these are made the stamp forming processto be the very important method of the modern industry. The theory and the process of thestamp forming have been became the dirction of academic research and development. As the development of the CAE and the involvement of the numerical simulation method, the stamp forming molds and their process designing method have already been made a greatbreakthrough. Using the numerical simulation method, it can get the stress, strain and thethickness of the stamp forming process, and it can also predict the defect, and these can helpthe designer to verify its design before the mold had been made. And these could reduce therisk of the failure of the mold design. In the orther hand, the CAE & numerical simulationmethod can optimize the mold design and the process parameters, and can provide guidanaceof mold design and process analsys. Therefore, it can achieve the purpose of shorten the molddesign cycle and reducing the cost of the production. This paper mainly does the study from the following aspects:1. Described the relative elastic-plastic theories of the stamp forming. Analyzed thestress-strain and thickness and the defect of the stamp forming process.2. Systematic described the FEM theory of the stamp forming process, discussed theexplicit dynamics method which is using in the analysis of the stamp forming, thenon-linear elastic-plastic constitutive of the sheet matel, the shell element using in thenumerical simulation, the contact and friction problems.3. Using the professional stamp forming numerical simulation software Dynaform, simulated the stamp forming process of 3.5 mm compressor outer covering. Studiedthe stress-strain and the thickness of the stamp forming process.4. Based on the above studies, analyzed the process parameters such as: blank holderforce, friction coefficient and sheet thickness, which have mainly influence of thestamp forming process.
