The tailings in iron ore mining process bring serious ecology problems, and mining wasteland management also get more and more attention of people. Mainly by the method of data collection and analysis of the case in this paper, which analyse the status of the iron ore hill abandoned land distribution in MaLanzhuang town of Qian’an city of Hebei province, determine the physicochemical properties of tailings sand soil, construct the iron mines wasteland types classification system, and give out the planning models. The results underlie for the rational utilization of iron mine waste land resource as well as the norms for ecological governance practice. The results are as follows.(1) It’s creatively constructed classified index for Iron Mine Wasteland, thus topography, soil, texture and pollution, which underlies for type classification of iron mining abandoned land .(2) There are two main types of Iron Mine Wasteland. One is pit of damage land, the other is the occupied land by waste disposal site and tailing dam.Iron Mine Wasteland can be classified into two types, positive landform (occupied ground) and negative terrain (excavated ground). Occupied ground can be classified into waste disposal site and tailing dam, and excavated ground can be classified into with and without water.(3) By determining the physicochemical properties of tailings sand soil, it shows that Robinia pseudoacacia, Amorpha fruticosa and Sabina vulgaris e.d. can be kept directly there. Additionally, these plant can improve the condition so as to grow other plant species.(4) Opencast mine according to the situation of water can make full use of its water. Make a wetland park planning where there are waters with large surface, high quality and large depth, or rationally develop and use excavated land to build mainly aquatic breeding of the ecological reclamation mode.(5)By cutting high pad light engineering measures ,open-pit mining of non-water pit can be planed into ecological agriculture-based reclamation mode.(6) In order to save costs and to consider the casing vegetation, the tailing pond requires a lot of soil source factors such as long duration limitation, direct vegetation for planning into the complex ecological forestry green mode.(7) Less polluted than the tailings ,dumps can be planned into composite model of forest landscapes with economic fruit shrubs and grass in the casing,both plane and three-dimensional configuration.
