Considering the low efficiency and high error rate in checking the normative of digital model of hydraulic die with conventional method in CATIA, a method for automatic checking is proposed. The paper researched the conventional method of checking the digital model, compared the domestic and international studies in this field, analyzed the means of secondary development on CATIA, and decided to use CAA as the basis development tool. The paper introduced the principle of technology about CAA from the side of geometric modeler, mechanical modeler, product structure and assembly design modeler, provided a theoretical basis on the development of the automatic design software.Based on the normative of digital model of hydraulic die from the technical staff, developed the overall design of the software, including test content requirements, functional requirements and process of software design, etc. With the resolution of key issues such as the development of human machine interface, knowledge engineering and the technology of background detection, finished a relatively complete system of automatic design software. Achieved the goal of store path and file name checking, property checking, part number checking, geometric feature checking, etc.The study is an exploration on technology of automatic checking of digital model, has a certain value on engineering applications. The system could shorten the time of checking during the designing of hydraulic die, enhance work efficiency and provide a solid base for the high-speed checking of digital model for the department of hydraulic die design.
