Optimization And Modification Of Long Flame Coal And Anthracite Blending Coal For Conventional Coking

With the rapid development of China’s economy, the demand of metallurgy cokeincreased quickly. The high-quality coking coal is shortage, so it is an urgent to find thesuccedaneum source of coal to meet the production needs of the iron and steelenterprises. Although non-coking coal resources is rich in the nature, it is rarely used incoal blending for coking due to the lack of caking and coking property. To overcomethis problem, a new type of coal modifying additive（ZBS）was developed to modify thenon-coking coal, so it can be used for coking. It can not only reduce the costs of cokingand expand the species of coking coal, but also improve the quality of coke.In this paper, a serie of the coal blending and coking experiments were carried outin2kg and40kg of coke oven respectively. The research focused on the effect ofanthracite and long flame coal that added directly on coke quality, studied the impact ofcoal modifying additive（ZBS）on modification effects of non-coking coal and cokequality also. And the results showed that:①The coke quality weakened when anthracite and long flame coal are blendeddirectly. But with the adding of an appropriate amount of ZBS, the cohesiveness ofblended coal was enhanced, the distribution of pore was improved, the porosity of cokedecreased, the thickness of pore wall was improved, and the crackle of pore wallreduced，It increased the cold strength and hot strength of coke. Thereforethe quality ofcoke improved obviously.②In the test of2kg coking-oven, additional11wt.%,13wt.%and15wt.%non-coking coal were blended in base coal blending of plant, and the cold strengthindex of final coke, M25and M10, reached that of the base coal blending by adding ZBS.Compared with the experiment without ZBS, the indiex of the coke with addition of0.08%ZBS into the15%non-coking coal such as, M25and CSR were increased by5.44%and10.20%reseparately，while the M10and CRI decreased by2.84%and8.40%reseparately.③The optimal coal blending in the test of40kg coking-oven was determined as29wt.%coking coal,10wt.%fat-coking coal,18wt.%1/3coking coal,14wt.%leancoal,18wt.%fat coal,6wt.%Jiaozuo anthracite,5wt.%Benhong Long flame coal,and0.08wt.%ZBS was added in the coal blending，the quality of coke can met therequirement that produced by original blended coal, M40, M10, CRI and CSR were up to 90.35%,6.52%,35.34%, and40.45%respectively, which was provided the referenceand guidance for further industrial test.
