Effective water-based epoxy resin products to avoid the extensive use ofvolatile organic compounds (VOC), with significant environmental features andvalue, and the epoxy resin water-based and applied research to become one of theareas of concern in recent years.In this paper, two methods of self-emulsification and external emulsificationof epoxy resin waterborne technology.Out emulsification method using biphenyl A epoxy resin, polyethylene glycoland4,4-biphenyl methane discarnate ester (MDI) synthetic resin modifiedemulsifier, by the proportion of the amount of each monomer, the reactiontemperature, reaction time, the amount of emulsifier, water-based epoxy resinemulsion influencing factors were studied.In the emulsification method, by epoxy resin,4,4-methane isocyanine ester(MDI),2,2–carbon methyl prop ionic acid (DMPA) and polios introduced in theepoxy resin molecules the molecular chains of the surfactant, the system had afunction of self-emulsifying epoxy resin system, combined with the inversiontechnique, the system in high stability, more uniform epoxy resin emulsiondispersed phase fine particle size distribution, synthesized with carboxyl group ofthe epoxy resin and epoxy modified emulsifiers to study the reaction of monomer,reaction temperature, reaction time, catalyst, and polymerization agent factors onthe synthetic product and emulsion stability.And preparation of water-based epoxy resin emulsion characterization of theIR, GPC, solid content, emulsion stability obtained:Outside the emulsion: The experimental results show that at90℃, the EP: PEG:MDI molar ratio of1:1:0.6, reaction time the effect of the emulsion prepared at4h.The emulsion stability when the monomer molar ratio of the1:1:0.6emulsifiercontent of5%, the highest solid content can reach70%. Self-emulsifying: The experimental results show that the EP: MDI: the DMPA:of DBTDL of molar ratio for1:1:0.8:0.01for the reaction temperature of60°C,reaction time8hours, preparation of molecular size and distribution of the epoxyresin with carboxyl; EP: MDI: PEG: DBTDL molar ratio1:1:0.8:0.01, reactiontemperature90℃for4hours of synthesis of modified epoxy resin emulsifier. Byinfrared spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography analysis of the productmolecules of functional groups, molecular weight, molecular weight distribution,the product has good hydrophilic.
