In this paper, calcium alginate foams were prepared through freeze drying method wheresodium alginate was raw material and water as foam agent, calcium ions selected ascross-linking agent, the concentration calcium ion, solution temperature and reaction timethrough orthogonal experimental were studied on the preparation of calcium alginate foams.This also studied the effect of plasticizing treatment of calcium alginate foams by glycerolthrough orthogonal experimental.Preparation of sodium alginate foams and calcium alginate foams and its evaluation ofcalcium alginate foams were studied at first. Freeze drying method was selected to prepare ofsodium alginate foams and calcium alginate foams, and the absorption amount, and fluidcapacity; antibiotic saline water management ability as well as the absorbent kinetics haddone the system research. The results showed that sodium alginate stirred at a lowtemperature when dissolved by water, then poured into a dish wrapped by plastic and closed -18℃for 7 hours, then freeze dried in 15Pa vacuum, the foams material prepared by thismethod have uniformity pore and smooth surface, when dipped in 2% calcium chloridesolution with 30℃for 6 hours and then freeze drying again, the alginate calcium foams wereprepared, its absorbing and preserving capacity of wound exudates were 30.48g/g , itsmoisture absorption, capacity of absorbing A solution and saline resistant to saline corrosionresistance were also excellent, in distilled water to reach moisture saturation in 20 minutes.The density, pore morphology, porosity, permeability, thermal ability, cross-linking andchanges of chemical structure and tensile performance of the calcium alginate foam materialswere all test. The results showed the physical and chemical properties of 2% calcium alginatesponge foams are close to the non-woven dressings ( aperture diameter (100 ~500 um ) (35.27mg.cm-3), density, water absorption rate (30.27g/g ), and fluid capacity (2.97g/g), strength(0.21MPa) (84.37%), porosity, permeability (44.5%) ).The amount of glycerin, solution concentration of sodium alginate effected softness ofcalcium alginate foaming material were studied, drawing in 6% glycerol aqueous solution for12 hours, then freeze dried again to prepare sponge feel was visual ideal, and its physical andchemical properties were corresponded tested. The results show that calcium alginate foamstreated foam by glycerol treatment can have soft feeling, good lubricity, low adhesion, andkeeping a certain degree of tensile strength, it is comfortable so as expected to apply inabsorbing water or deducing shaking or medical dressings.
