Firstly,we use the maximum likelihood estimate method to estimate the EMU brake pad life distribution parameters under the brake pad wear cycle datas,then take a two-component series system as the research object, assuming components have economy ralationship, the planning preventive maintenance can’t maintenance components to be new, and also consider the lower bound of system’s reliability, and the maintenance cost rate’s minimum and availability’s maximum of the system is considered as the goal to establishing the planning preventive maintenance model respectively(called the C model and A model), in order to allow the maintenance model can make a sensitive reaction to the different needs of the producers in time, this article comprehensive system maintenance cost rate and the reliability index to establishing a adjustable multi-objective planning preventive maintenance model (called U model), these three models used to determining the maintenance policies of the EMU brake pad, and get the optimal planning preventive maintenance cycles by using Matlab programming.In order to improve the planning preventive maintenance model, this paper introduces opportunistic preventive maintenance, still considered a two-component series system with economic dependence, under a one-cycle criterion, the system average repair expense ratio’s expectation minimum and availability’s expectation maximum of the system availability expectations maximum of the system a single cycle is considered as the goal to the establishment of two opportunistic preventive maintenance models respectively (called as OC model and OA model), and then a mixture of these two factors is considered to establishing a adjustable multi-objective opportunistic preventive maintenance model (called as the OU model), and find the different best opportunity preventive maintenance thresholds of the EMU brake pad in different planning preventive maintenance cycles from the three models by Matlab programming base on the C model’s、A model’s and U model’s calculation results,and change the parameters of the model, find the influence to the models’calculation results, and get a number of laws and conclusions, we also compared the opportunistic maintenance model and planning maintenance model,and found the opportunistic maintenance model have an advantage.
