Along with the highway rapid increasing, highway assets management work was moreand more complex. The work of highway management department will be from constructionto maintenance, reconstruction and improving current highway, however the increasinglyprominent contradiction between the present backward of highway management level andrapid development momentum highway construction seriously impacted the highwayoperation efficiency and service level. Therefore, it was necessary to ascend to themanagement of highway asset information. Based on GIS the highway information andgeographic information will be combined, which can give full play to the geographicinformation system characteristic of data management, spatial analysis and real-time dynamicmap display visualization function, so as to meet the highway asset information managementwork in the information retrieval and data analysis.This paper constructed the structure framework of highway assets managementinformation system based on the space visualization. In order to realize the highway assetmanagement informationization, as the main content of the road assets types and demandanalysis, information database design and build, system function realization method. First,through analyzing the data characteristics and the relationship of highway assets informationand GIS, It set up attribute database and space database; Second, completed the wholestructure design, using ArcGIS9.3, SQL Server, Microsoft Visual Studio, decided c#todevelop system.This system included the function modules of system management, real-time dynamicmap display, layer management, editor, data management, spatial analysis, measurement andso on. The basis was Attribute database and space database, the key point completed highwayasset information query display and output etc. the last, analyzed the highway pavement,bridge using performance and maintenance demand and further researched the shortest pathsearch problems.
