According to a large number of disaster samples of the earthquake, it is found that, the diversification of the seismic ground motion of a single place is not notable when varieties of earthquakes that occurring with similar larger magnitudes. But the characteristics of the seismic ground motion of different sites in an area may be very diversification for each other when the earthquake occurring with a same magnitude. Thus, site conditions, especially the characteristics of soil layer have important effects on parameters of seismic ground motion. Yunnan province is one of the regions, which have the strongest earthquake movement in Chinese mainland. And Kunming basin is just located near an important seismic belt. With the development of economic, Kunming’s new district:Chenggong will be the most important area of construction in the future. This article is focus on the soil layer of Chenggong’s central zone, and established real soil layer model. Then it analyzed the characteristics of the whole area’s soil layer with the earthquake. At last it analyzed the result of this research with an engineering geology method.This article established real soil layer model with the parameters of every sites’soil layer in Chenggong. Those parameters received from engineering geological survey. According to a recurrence algorithm, which modeling SH waves in subsurface multi-layer media, it simulated the ground motion amplification due to SH waves at each site in this area. It defined four lines and take the characteristics of each site’s seismic ground motion with the property of the layer section, which fixed of four lines, to carry on qualitative analysis of the ground motion amplification response of the soil layer in two-dimension section. At last, on the basis of distribution situation of each site and the four lines and used kriging differential technique, it obtained the distribution characteristics of the ground motion amplification response of the surface of the whole layer. Then it took the qualitative analysis of the characteristics of seismic ground motion on the ground surface. In addition, this article also discussed one of the most important parameters of seismic ground motion analyzing:sheer wave velocity. Study on its statistical properties and its relationship with the depth of soil layers. It generalized the distribution characteristics of equivalent shear wave velocity. And it also took the partition of site classification according to the distribution characteristics of equivalent shear wave velocity.The result of this research verified that, the amplification effect of soil layers seems to be more notable with SH wave when the layer of cohesive soil is very thick or the layer has soft soil and the layer must be vary deep, also the layer of earth general consists of quaternary system. In this situation, its equivalent shear wave velocity general with a low value. It mainly distributed in the central or north of this area. The whole area presents very good conditions besides those areas. The consequents of this article have large significance of the anti-seismic engineering in Kunming basin, especially the new district:Chenggong.
