According to China’s domestic oil exploration technology and the current level of oil production in China will reach its peak around2015, about1.9to2.0million tons, and to the current energy consumption rate, in2020there will be more than50%dependent on oil and gas on foreign imports. Domestic oil and gas resources in reserve a serious shortage of reserves, oil and gas resources has restricted the development of our national economy an important factor in the long run is bound to pose a threat to national security. So, look around the world, and actively expand the overseas market would be to increase reserves and improve China’s energy reserve oil and gas production, solve our energy problems as a necessary means, but also the future survival and development of China’s oil industry and hope for the future, it is our implementation of energy resource diversification strategy to ensure a stable supply of oil and the stability of the state an important way. This paper is about Gulf of Mackenzie Delta geological characteristics and resource evaluation, the basin is rich in oil and gas reserves, Mackenzie Delta oil and gas basins and geological conditions of oil exploration and resource evaluation is part of the project of Exploration Institute "global oil and gas resources assessment", and one of the key areas of the evaluation of oil and gas resources in North America,.The difficulties of this subject is:At this stage, the lack of a mature oil and gas resources overseas oil and gas basins research methods; overseas oil and gas basins of data collection is more fragmented and need to integrate a unified management platform; collected class oil and gas resource evaluation data less than normal, is not conducive to carrying out post-resource evaluation. In order to solve the above problems, we mainly use the following technical means to facilitate smooth conduct the project:1. In the literature research, comprehensive analysis,we made an appropriate method process2. The process of petroleum geology in the basin, the establishment of a database using Arc GIS software to solve the scattered data and comprehensive analysis of the problem of stitching, and on this platform, a comprehensive analysis and research;3. Using discovery method, based on statistical probability predicted by the oil and gas resource evaluation unit, to make assessment results more reliable. The subject of the Gulf of Mexico deep water basin resources assessment as follows:1. Basin to collect and collate information, USGS the evaluation of oil and gas basins in North America and the evaluation unit to lead, consult, build, finishing in the Gulf of Mackenzie Delta basin on the basis of foreign geological data and basic overview of exploration and development, to establish a basis for later evaluation database.2. Basin petroleum geology, basin analysis and including the formation and deposition of research.3. Basin petroleum system and the play of reservoir, including the division of oil and gas systems, static elements of description, and description of the dynamic elements; and petroleum system based on the study, by a play of the scope of the basin into the reservoir.4. Resource assessment, the play forming the basic evaluation unit, on the plays of the accumulation of crude oil, natural gas, condensate have been discovered resources and undiscovered resources to evaluate the results.Emerging from the study basins come to the following Conclusion:1. Basin evolution:Jurassic-Early Cretaceous, the Eskimo Lake fault zone within the wedge-shaped debris thickening to the northwest pinchout. Eocene, tower ancient (Taglu,) order the deposition process, the passive margin of Arctic Alaska micro-plate gradually deformed. Middle Miocene, Yanshan orogeny weakened, resulting in the Mackenzie Bay and Acre Parker (Akpak), order transgressive deposition, and the period for the diffusion of a passive continental margin basins. Miocene, the basin of the southern margin of the uplift and erosion, resulting in Arctic Alaska micro-plate trailing edge deformation and widespread non-integrated development of the period so far are the diffusion of the passive continental margin basin.2. Source rocks:Mackenzie Delta Basin source rocks in addition to Richards bands shale, a third a rich source rocks compartment. Reindeer super order of Paleocene and the Oligocene order, on the edge of the Cretaceous Creek and smoke Sankai has been proven hydrocarbon source rocks, but they have been deeply buried than the southeast edge of the surrounding environment of the hydrocarbon source rock must mature. The other possible source rocks for the Mackenzie Delta Basin offers some of the reservoir, including the Jurassic Husky group and Cretaceous mountain Goodenough and Arctic Red Group.3. Reservoir characteristics:Upper Miocene subaqueous fan deposition in the main reservoir of the Mackenzie Delta basin has been confirmed as braided channel, sheet sand, underwater natural levee and overflow sandstone. Paleogene sandstone reservoirs also have a larger potential and is to embark on a comprehensive evaluation. Comprehensive analysis shows that the Mackenzie Delta oil and gas area-Cenozoic reservoirs are widely developed-on the submarine fan deposition of the Miocene sandstone is mainly distributed in the following deep-water areas in the Mackenzie delta slope, the Upper Jurassic-Cretaceous of reef limestone, limestone and dolomite reservoir development in the Mackenzie Delta, the margin of the coastal plain and continental shelf areas.4. Seal features:The main reservoirs of the Mackenzie Delta Basin is a regression in the delta front and delta plain sandstones, especially order, the tower of the ancient order and the order of Ak Mubarak. The shallow water of the Lower Cretaceous Parsons Group and paralic sandstone is the main reservoir of oil and gas reservoirs of the southeast wing of the basin. Basin reservoirs of the Upper Jurassic, the entire Miocene delta and shallow marine sedimentary Paleozoic carbonate reservoir, also found on land.5. The Mackenzie Delta water basin can be divided into four petroleum system: Edge of the river/smoke Hill-tower of ancient petroleum system Husky/mountain goodenough-and Parsons group petroleum system, reindeer-reindeer petroleum system, Richards/-Kuge MaSplit petroleum system; conclude that the combination of three sets into Tibet:Lower Tertiary of the Lower Cretaceous and Jurassic speculate reservoir combinations.By constructing the background, play of reservoir, oil and gas resources distribution, status and extent of exploration and comprehensive analysis, we believe that there are still large exploration potential in the Mackenzie Delta basin, future exploration will be the distribution of far ocean rock salt areas and deep formation.
