Petroleum System Analysis And Resource Assessment Of Amu-Darya Basin

The Amu-Darya Basin liesin the central Asia-Caspian sea area.With the guildance of the theories applied in Basin Analysis and Petroleum Geology and the approach of Petroleum System Analyisis,this study attempts to document basic geology,petroleum geology and hydrocarbon distribution,analyze petroleum systems and summarize the factors controlling hydrocarbon distribution as well as to characterize plays.Then,the hydrocarbon assessment of Amu-Darya Basinwas conducted.In the Amu-Darya Basin,two petroleum systems: Lower Cretaceous petroleum system on salt and Jurassic petroleum system under salt were developed.With the Monte Carlo simulation method,theundiscovered ressources were estimated to be104 MMbbl of oil and38694.71 Bcfof gas,which are 6553.83 MMboe of oil equivalent in total.The Upper Jurassic play of the Murgab Sub-basin has a the greatest potential in the Amu-Darya Basin and its undiscovered oil and gas resoureces account for 64.73% of the total undiscovered resources in the basin.
