Both Mohist of Pre-Qin China and natural philosophers of ancient Greece createdrich scientific thoughts. Mohist and ancient Greece scientific thought have created abrilliant scientific civilization.The former continued to modern times through manydifficulties and led the West to the modern science. But the latter finally vanishedbecause of some complicated reasons and didn’t help the Chinese science for a longway.Firstly the paper analyses the origin of the scientific thoughts of Mohist andancient Greece and reveals the general character and individual differences throughcomparing their historical background, related factors and features of thoughts.Secondly it compares their mathematical, physical and logical thoughts from thefeatures and contents.Thirdly, after drawing a comparison of their development and influence fromsynchronic and diachronic perspectives, the paper studies the historical&contemporaryvalue of Mohist and the relation between ancient Greece’s science thoughts and risingof modern science.Fourthly, by examining the modern development trends of thinking manners inChinese and Western Societies,we can see clear the relation between modern scienceand rational spirit of ancient Greece so as to get the true meaning of scientific thoughts.To evaluate correctly the role of Mohist’s science thoughts in the history of ancientChina, it needs to look closely at their modern value.The scientific thoughts of Mohist and ancient Greece are respectively the outcomeof the East and the West. Through the study of comparing, it makes us to learn thesimilarities and differences of the science traditions between the East and the West. Thecomparing has great practical significance for the development of science andtechnology all over the world.
