Rare earth resources is an important strategic resource in China. Due to over-exploitation in recent years, China’s rare earth reserves have dropped significantly. It is urgent to strengthen the investigation of new mineral deposits, and ensure that the supply of rare earth ore reserve. As a reserve of rare earth mineral resources, Ion adsorption rare earth mine in Zhenan (south of Zhejiang) has some development potential.Remote sensing technology can rapidly and efficiently extract geological information. This paper attempts to use of remote sensing technology for the Zhenan rare earth prospecting information extraction and metallogenic forecasts, in order to quickly narrow the scope of the ground surveys to improve the effectiveness of investigations. From ion adsorption rare earth metallogenic regularity of the analysis, we find that both of residual landforms and mineral abnormalities related to rare earth can be used as remote sensing prospecting information. Different computer classification method are use to extract residual landforms, classification results show that the object-oriented classification method can be an effective solution to spectral confusion in landscape units by makingfull use of the image space and structural information. ASTER spectral was analysis to determine spectral absorption characteristics of rare-earth-related mine exist in the visible to shortwave infrared. Principal component analysis, and the band depth method were used to extract the rare-earth-related mine remote sensing abnormalities. The verification results show that the effectiveness of the anomaly extraction. The weight of evidence metallogenic prediction model are use to forecast the rare earth mineralization in study area, as evidence of the mineralization of remote sensing extract factors. This method is applied to verify the verification area of rare earth mineralization forecast. The reliability of this prediction model is confirmed by comparison of the sampling points. The results show that the proposed remote sensing information extraction of rare earth mineralization and metallogenic prediction method can be applied to ion adsorption rare earth mine preliminary investigation, the results can provide a basis for more detailed rare-earth mineral resource exploration.
