China's Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Risk Management Study

In recent years, the injury events by medicine occurred frequently and counterfeitdrugs become endless. In the result, the consumers do not trust the drug safety. Drugsafety is related to the lives of the people. So it is imperative to strengthen all aspectsof the pharmaceutical supply chain management. The pharmaceutical supply chainrisk management is an ongoing process. According to the risk assessment results,enterprises can develop a reasonable plan to reduce the risk of drugs and takereasonable and effective measures to avoid risks.Drug safety is a complex issue. Every aspect of the pharmaceutical supply chainwill affect drug safety, from the procurement of pharmaceuticals raw materials,pharmaceutical production, distribution and consumption. The pharmaceutical supplychain is an important part in the drug safety system and is the vector of drug safety,which involves pharmaceutical raw material suppliers, pharmaceutical manufacturers,drug wholesalers, drug retailers, medical services and drug users.The paper analyses the status of pharmaceutical supply chain in China anddiscusses the problems existing among pharmaceutical raw material suppliers,manufacturers, vendors, and the users. Then it identifies the main risk factors in thepharmaceutical supply chain, according to the supply chain risk management theory,and analyzes the causes of the various risk factors. It establishes a risk assessmentmodel using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method and makes a quantitativeassessment on the entire pharmaceutical supply chain weight. It identifies the key riskfactors which is the most influential. Finally, targeting to the key risk factors, thepaper puts forwards how to strengthen and improve China's pharmaceutical supplychain risk control to minimize the risk of supply chain.
