Occupational Crying Soul Reproduction

With continuous deepening of China's reform and opening up, reappearance of traditional customs has occurred in some regions of China. For example, some traditional customs of the Han nationality have reappeared in the society in recent years after experiencing silence since the founding of the People's Republic of China till1980s, including the phenomenon of professionals crying before the dead in the funeral ceremony of the Han nationality. As an important link in the traditional funeral ceremony in the life of rural peasants, crying before the dead not only implies profound and lasting cultural value concepts, but also is an important constituent part of the rural value system of the Han nationality. Therefore, researches on the reappearance of this phenomenon have important practical significances and academic values.With the social phenomenon of professionals crying before the dead appearing in Xuchang City, Henan Province in recent years as the research object, this paper applies literature research method and case study method to describe the role and function of professionals crying before the dead and the transition of their social status based on the observation of the site where such professionals cry and detailed interviews on the phenomenon of professional crying before the dead with people crying before the dead, dependents of the dead, surrounding villagers, village cadres and college students returning to villages, and analyzes and ponders over the factors influencing the reappearance of professionals crying before the dead.This paper consists of five chapters.Chapter I Introduction describes the writing motivation and cause of this paper and meanwhile organizes the achievements of previous anthropological and sociological researches on funeral ceremony, etc.Chapter II mainly describes the social background of the studied area and on-site action of crying before the dead in the traditional funeral ceremony and professionals crying before the dead, and analyzes the performance of those professionals. Chapter III describes and analyzes the social phenomenon of reappearance of professionals crying before the dead from three aspects-role transition of people crying before the dead, functional transition of crying before the dead and transition of social status of professionals crying before the dead.Chapter IV mainly analyzes the factors influencing the reappearance of professionals crying before the dead from three aspects-culture, economy and system.The last chapter is conclusion and thinking. This chapter further discusses some problems found in the research process on the basis of summing up the conclusions of the paper.
