A Study On Regional Disparities Characteristics Of Chinese Rural Residents Tourism

This thesis aimes to explore the regional disparities characteristics of Chinese rural residents tourism.It analyzes data in the last10years on travelling of rural residents from30provinces, based on information obtained from Statistical books.Firstly, it studies the general characteristics of regional disparities by calculating the absolute difference, relative differences and geographic concentration index. Then it comes to the conclusion that within the past10years, the absolute difference of average spending on rural residents tourism kept increasing, while the relative differences kept decreasing, and that the geographic concentration index first increased and then decreased in the process.Secondly, based on Theil index, it divided the regional disparities characteristics of rural residents tourism into internal disparities and external disparities, which also means inter-regional, intra-regional and inter-provincial disparities. It finds out that generally the regional disparities tend to decrease in the last ten years:In west and central area of China, the development of inter-provincial disparity showes a "U" curve, while in east China it showes a curve of reverse "U". The intra-regional disparities were found to be the major contributor to the regional disparities. The contribution rate of intra-regional disparities showes an "M" curve in both east and west area, while it showes a "W" curve in central area. It also finds that the main parts contribution rate of inter-provincial disparities come from the east and west areas before2005. In2006, the contribution rates were almost the same in the three areas. The contribution rate of the central region gradually increased thereafter, while the contribution rate of the east and west gradually decreased. The factors which account for the regional disparities were divided into internal and external factors, and then the relevant measures to reduce the regional disparities were proposed.The thesis studies the rural residents tourism in China from the angle of regional disparities. It explores the external and internal factors accounting for the formation of tourism colony of rural residents and their interaction. The thesis may contribute to1) better development of tourism colony of rural residents;2) the development of tourist industry by providing statistical evidence for the strategies making of rural residents tourism;3) provide new insights and new ideas for developing optimal tourist production and marketing tactics;4) further regional cooperation on tourism.
