Analysis Of Effect Factors Of The Change In China's Energy Intensity

Energy is the main driving force of economic development, which is also the material basis for social and economic sustainable development. Energy and economic development are interdependent. On the one hand,economic growth depends on energy,energy usage promote economic growth;On the other hand, as a precondition to energy development, economic development give the exploitation of energy strong support. However, rapid economic growth, especially in extensive economic growth will inevitably lead to high energy consumption. The exploitation of coal,oil,gas and other energy on a large scale makes the environment destroyed seriously while bringing material wealth to mankind.The large number of energy consumption causing energy shortages and environmental problems is bound to restrict economic growth. In the long term,energy efficiency and environmental protection on the field of energy economy is the core issue.The level of a national energy efficiency and adequacy of energy supply will directly affect the international competitiveness.China is in an important period of accelerating industrialization and urbanization with strong growth in energy demand,energy supply and demand become more acute. Meanwhile,China's coal-dominated energy consumption structure,resulting in rapid increase in greenhouse gas emissions, has brought China's energy security and ecological security unprecedented pressure.Therefore, how to solve the energy restrains in the rapid economic development is particularly important. Energy conservation, energy efficiency is the inevitable choice for energy security and sustained economic growth,and it is an important way to achieve industrial upgrading and transformation of economic growth and enhance the overall competitiveness, but also an important measure of sustainable development strategy. It is precisely because of this,for the study of energy intensity as an important indicator of energy efficiency, in the basis of the domestic and foreign scholars'research on energy intensity, this paper using the relevant1980-2008data make in-depth analysis of the effect factors of China's energy intensity.First,according to the characteristics of China's energy consumption, find which factors effect the change in China's energy intensity, and then respectively, from static analysis of single-factor and dynamic analysis of multi-factor perspective study their impact on China's energy intensity. The static analysis results of index decomposition and econometric models showed that:changes in energy intensity of different sectors (sectoral efficiency effects) for reducing energy intensity in China plays a decisive role,and the effect of economic structural on energy intensity show phase characteristics;the impact of industrial sector for falling energy intensity have played a leading role;the structural effect of FDI reduces energy intensity, while the scale effect of FDI increases energy intensity, GDI structure also to some extent increases energy intensity; the impact of changes in energy consumption structure on China's energy intensity has fluctuations.The dynamic analysis results of impulse response functions and variance decomposition showed that:the impact of energy prices,the energy intensity of the second industrial and FDI on energy intensity last a relatively long period,while the impact of energy consumption structure last a relatively short period,however,with respect to the importance of impact,energy consumption structure has the greatest impact on energy intensity.After that,based on the result that industrial sector have played a leading role in the impact of the reduction in energy intensity,this paper based on Translog cost function,studies the substitutability between capital, labor and energy,and analyzes the main effect factors on energy intensity of industrial sector from a new perspective of factor substitution and the industrial structure,the results showed that:energy is a substitute for both capital and labor;the fluctuations of energy intensity of industrial sector from year to year is a comprehensive result due to budget,factor substitution,FDI,the energy consumption structure and changes in industrial structure.In recent years,changes in energy consumption structure and factor substitution have a positive impact on reducing energy intensity, while industrial structure and FDI has facilitated the rise in energy intensity.
