| In this situation, this paper assumes the community information project being a sort of typical IT project management, which utilizing IT project management thought, and tools to conduct such projects. Most of current IT project management research focus on the development of software systems, ERP implementation, enterprise LAN. There is a deficiency of research literature and cases on information systems project management in China. This paper demonstrates the case of PDA project for the population information management of Kelamayi city, to analyze how IT project management is applied in this project, including the process, methods and techniques.This case study shows that IT project management is an inevitable trend for the practice of IT industry in China. It could manage the time, quality, costs and performance of the project effectively, which will increase the probability of project success and protect the benefits of stakeholders. In the end of this paper, the experience as well as lessons on IT project management on this system has been concluded. It proposed some suggestions about how to avoid the risks and how to implement the project.This study shows that the application on IT management in Community information system projects can improve the quality of the system, and avoid failure in large extent. It enriches the research of IT management in China, and will provide reference for managing information system projects. |
