Although the meeting market of China lags behind developed countries almost two decades. but with the rapid development of the meeting market over the past ten years. there is a huge market providing wonderful opportunity for the hotel industry. In recent years, there is a rise building conference center and conference hotel all around the country. Many high-star hotels will be positioned itself as a conference hotel. The situation is not occasional, but it's still to be known whether all these hotels'behavior is right or not. How large the conference center matchs the meeting market in the region? What type of hotel is positioned right as a conference hotel? What's the critical success factors of a conference hotel? All these are topics what professors and hotel managers need to focus on.Through reviewing the literature, findings are that there is few scientific studies on conference hotels in China. most theses are similar to case study. This study was designed to use critical success factor method to make quantitative research. in order to find out these critical success factors which would have impacts to conference hotels. And find out the current CSFs importance and the future CSFs importance.The second section of this study is review on the existing literature about conference hotels and key success factors. The third section discusses the current operation of China's conference hotels, and also identify potential critical success factors of conference hotels. these potential critical success factors are basis for questionnaire design.This study adopted the questionnarie survey, because it's the most feasible and appropriate way.22 potential CSFs were base of questionnaries. Questionnaries were distributed to managers or employees of high-star hotels. Some unreasonable or useless questionnaries were deleted from the sample.From a usable sample of 182 questionnaries the results show that:all 22 factors being verified via the independent t-test and reliability analysis results that most of the CSFs to be highly statistically significant and the set of CSF items to be consistent; factors getting high sorces are:convenience traffic condition, location, the professional level of meeting service, room size/quantity and quality, meeting facilities. Most factors have a high loading. in addition to "price". "lounge size quantity/quality", "the surrounding condition". The data analysis. via pricipal components analysis, also facilitates the creation of a parsimonious model that identifies three dimensions and eight CSFs as being the "most critical"Because the size of sample is not large enough. and classfication of critical success factors is not achieved in this study. there are some limitations to this study. future research can also take the CSFs method tohave a survey of conference hotels' customers. Most factors have more future CSFs importance, managers of conference hotels must focus on these items.
