J Company D Project Procurement, Supplier Management Research

Procurement management is very important either in the view of business management or the view of project management. Efficiency and effectiveness of procurement activities occupies an important position in the project cost management, and has a direct impact on the project's progress and success or failure. the suppliers are based the temporary needs of the project, lacking the stability existed in corporate procurement, and therefore the supplier management issues is in particular. Meanwhile, caused by project's individual requirements, vendor selection is subject to various restrictions, increased supplier management more difficult. Therefore, the vendor management issues in project management need particular attention.In this paper, we take D project of J company for the study. J is an international engineering consulting firm specializing in providing project management services to multinational engineering contracting company. D project is on the North of China, a total investment of $ 98 million, and the construction period is 2 years, and J company provide project management services. As the project progresses, eight suppliers canceled the purchase contract, and some selected unilateral termination of the contract, and also some vendors go against J's moral commitment to society. These actions not only delayed the progress of the project D projects, but also damaged J's reputation. J companies need to analyze the reasons for these problems and improve the situation. In this paper, I will analyze these problems.The basic content of this article are as follows:(1)It described the basic concepts of project management, project procurement management, vendor procurement .(2)Through a large number of survey analysis, data analysis, personal experience I summed up the D project status and vendor management problems. The problems were divided by the pre-procurement stage, mid-procurement stage, and later stage, and each of the issues are analyzed.(3)The optimized improvement goals are provided to solve the problems, and also the suggestions. Firstly, it is necessary to recognize the strategic importance of supplier classification of materials and strengthening the field audit are good suggestions. Secondly, I provide a more appropriate algorithm for fuzzy comprehensive evaluation to the vendor selection problem. Finally, multi-source suppliers are talked to improve the incentive effect.This study focused on J's D projects, and it would be helpful to the general vendor management in project management.
