A Study Of The Location Evaluation For The Taiyuan Tangjiu Chain Convenience Stores

Convenience store, as the most promising retail format, has developed rapidly since it accessed to Taiyuan marketplace in 1998. The size of the convenience stores has been gradually expanding and the operation level has been constantly improving. In order to enhance their competitiveness, many enterprises have to increase the number of stores to expand their scales of operation. It is very important to choose a new convenience stores site, because of their characteristics of small areas, the range of effective radiation and difficult to attract customers from long-distance. Since it is the key that choosing a successful location system is to determine the successful operation when doing an allocation planning, it is very necessary to study the site evaluation of chain convenience stores.At first, this thesis has chosen 12 Tangjiu chain convenience stores as the samples, based on the features of convenience store format and Taiyuan market conditions. And then the thesis has collected and analyzed the information about their characteristics of store location using the method of on-site inspection and interviewing with managers. Secondly, the thesis has tried to set up an site selection evaluation system suitable to Tangjiu convenience stores, which based on a more detailed consideration and analysis of location factors. Thirdly, the thesis has done an empirical test of evaluation system by the AHP approach. While it has evaluated and sorted the pros and cons ranking of 12 samples of site status, and has obtained three key factors that influence the site selection, such as traffic, per capita disposable income and economic growth.This study has enriched the theory of the site selection evaluation of chain convenience stores, built an evaluation index system and tested its practical operability. The results of this study has given certain reference and guidance to the further study on site evaluation of chain convenience stores..
