The work team is considered as "cells" which make up an enterprise, team leader plays a decisive role in enterprise organization as they work as the bridge that connects middle managers and junior staff. Specific to coal mine enterprises, the competence of team leader is researched by means of literature, interview method, questionnaire survey etc. And the evaluation index system of competence for team leader in coal mine enterprise is established by way of factor analysis. In addition, the weighting coefficient of each index is obtained using analytic hierarchy process. Finally, we introduce a new kind of grey correlation coefficient expressions to verify the index system, and then the competency model of team leader in coal mine enterprise is constructed. This model consists of five dimensions and 25 elements:1) enterprise cognition—creating harmonious atmosphere, quality awareness, safety awareness, global awareness, proactive, responsibility, entrepreneur spirit.2) Relationship management—interpersonal skills, team awareness, exciting power, ability, communication skills, being a role model, cohesion.3) Subordinate consideration—execution, incorruption, impartiality, affinity.4) Self-improvement—time management, organizational and coordination ability, professional knowledge, managerial knowledge.5) Working practice—foresight of perils, problem solving capability, guidance ability of job site, flexibility. This model can provide theoretical reference for the selection, training and examining to the team leader in coal mine enterprises.
