Research On Supplier Quality Control Based On VMI

Due to the fast development of modern economy, as well as the continuous increase of the customers' requirements on personalized sevice, the uncertainty of the demand has been growing grudually. At the same time, the contradiction between traditional inventory management and supply chain management has been becoming more and more prominent. Under this background, vendor managed inventory(VMI) is developing as a cooperative strategy between manufacturer and supplier. Besides, it is also a "win-win" inventory management model.Though the implementtion of VMI will benefit the manufacturer, it will aslo, from another perspective, bring great potential risks, which will make unfavorable effects on quality of the final product. Therefore, in order to ensure the quality of supplier's product and the normal operation of VMI, it is imperative to impliment supplier quality control based on VMI.This paper, in view of supply chain management, quality management and inventory management, combining management, mathmatics, statistics with other relative subjects, has adopted the method of both quantitative annalysis and qualitative analysis, and made a systemic research on supplier quality control based on VMI.First of all, this paper has set a precondition for vendor management inventory, and selected the upper level VMI as the research object. Then it has shown the premise of the implementation of VMI. In the following, this paper has analysed the advantages and disadvantages of supplier quality control based on VMI.Furthermore, this paper has displayed the supplier selection problems based on VMI, which include the factors, characteristics and steps of supplier selection. Taking these into consideration, it has proposed evaluation index system for supplier selection based on VMI. In the meanwhile, it has also established evaluation model for supplier selection based on entropy theory and grey correlation analysis.At last, this paper has put forward the supplier quality control model based on VMI. In spite of that, it has made a specific analysis of some effctive quality control measures for VMI, mainly including:improving the contact control based on VMI, strengthening the construction of quality information system and developing applicable quality inspection plan.
