Dennis L. Meadows has predicted that if growth continues at the current way, the natural resources, especially non-renewable resources would be faced with the danger of depletion. From the words upward can we found there is a deep relationship between economic growth and environmental. So, the phenomenon of environmental damage that caused by economic growth caught more and more attention from countries all over the world recent years. Therefore, the concept Environmental Efficiency (EE) which was first proposed in the Rio Earth Summit of 1992 has been concerned by many economists. EE is the most important indicator to measure the environmental costs from economic growth, which can measure of the efficiency of environmental costs during the economic development process. For the international trade was seen as the main driving force of economic growth, its impact for EE get more and more attention from the economist all over the world. As the world's largest developing country, our country's international trade and trade openness had a rapid growth after Reform and Open policy. But along with the economic development and trade growth was more serious pollution emissions and environmental pollution, while our country was facing with the problem of shortage of resources per capita. For example our Water resources, land resources, oil and gas resources, and important mineral resources per capita is less, but the population growth and rapid economic development expand the gap between supply and demand of resources, leading to overexploitation of resources caused serious environmental damage. Therefore, this thesis analyzes the mechanism that how international trade impact on China's environmental, divided it into technical effect, income effect, law effect and structure effect, did theoretical analysis. And use DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) method to calculate China's environmental efficiency trend from 1994 to 2008. Through the analysis of the results can we found there is an upward but slowing down trend from 1994 to 2008. Then use regression analysis method measure the relationship between international trade and China's environmental efficiency. Through comprehensive analysis of the results above, proposed a series of solutions.
