Having been expanding rapidly for more than30years, Chinese society now comes to the "MiddleIncome" stage of development. The international experience shows that this is a period with a high riskin social and economic areas, and also an important transition period, which has been confirmed by theincrease of mass disturbances in recent years. At the same time, microblog is becoming a part of manypeople's daily life. We might be thinking what will happen if the mass disturbance combines withmicroblog? This thesis will analyze the transmission mechanism of Sina Microblog under the situationof Wukan Event, and then discuss the relationship between the use of Sina Microblog by villagers andthe rebuilding of the countryside public sphere.This thesis consists of five parts. The first part mainly talks about the background and significanceof this research, and domestic relevant literature reviews on the transmission mechanism of microblogand how Chinese mass media represent the mass disturbances. The second part is about theoryelaboration on citizen journalism and microblog. The third part firstly describes the microblog reports ofthe Wukan Event conducted by local villagers; basing on the previous description, this part discussesthe transmission mechanism of Sina Microblog in four fields: outline of the use of Sina Microblog byvillagers, influencing factors on the numbers of microblog fans of villagers, text analysis on the mostpopular microblog contents, and self-purification of microblog. The fourth part deals with therelationship between the use of Sina Microblog by villagers and the rebuilding of the local public sphere.Microblog has become a public and independent forum, on which the local villagers could discuss theirpublic affairs rationally, but their discussion seems superficial owing to their pour knowledge. The fifthpart is some suggestion towards the administration of microblog during the mass disturbances.
