How to improve the quality of network service, to optimizing existing network resources and improve the flow control, and network management is becoming the focus of attention. The network traffic analysis is the theoretical basis of that question. LAN is an important part of the network, Therefore, the optimal design of LAN, Performance optimization and flow control is Problem to be solved. However, to solve these problems, Network traffic on the LAN should be analyzed. Currently, many network traffic analysis have focused on backbone network, very little research on local area networks. Therefore, traffic on the LAN system analysis and studies can according distribution needs of flow to adjust the load balancing, by analyzing to control flow and improve the switch's forwarding rate, to timely adjust the network topology and network equipment selection.This paper studied research status of the subject and the classification an measurement of network traffic; Second, it analyzes several important characteristics of network traffic characteristics of network traffic in LAN performance and an important influence on the performance of local area network; gives the behavior modeling of network traffic forecast, and describes the time series analysis of behavior modeling; summarizes the relevant characteristics of the short and long correlation model and its typical advantages and disadvantages; use of ARMA models to forecast traffic on the LAN analysis, Improved the limitations of ARMA (2,1) reference model and Proposed ARMA (3,2) Reference Model, Predict the traffic of the LAN. The experimental analysis of new model has high precision, simple computation, Fitting good effect.
