With the properties of distributed, self-organizing, multi-hop routing, dynamic topology, close range, low-power, low-cost and so on, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) can solve the problem of the last one kilometer of power communication terminal. Power communication fiber optic network provides the best access mode and usage scenarios for WSN. It is able to sense the end zone by monitoring equipment inside and outside transformer substations. The smart grid needs various forms of data like grid monitoring, grid operating environment, power marketing, et ac. However, these data has too many points, a wide range and dispersed distribution. The advantages of WSN, like flexible, low-power, moderate transmission distance, high diffraction and free networking, make it not only play an important role in the construction of a new generation of distribution communications network, but also play a role for energy conservation, rational use of energy and ensuring network security and stable operation.According to these statements, we analyzed the pros and cons and system structure of WSN based on the discussion of research of WSN at home and abroad. We also pointed out that people should take good advantages of WSN and avoid the problems in the network during actual use. We made and focused analysis of the key technologies of WSN in the implementation process, discussed routing of WSN, low-power algorithm of nodes, channel deployment, antenna selection, power supply and network security and other issues. The low-power algorithm of nodes mentioned in this paper can guarantee the long-time stable operation of nodes without outside interference. By detailed site survey, it is able to effectively solve the problem of transmission distance according to the actual situation and interference. Reasonable power supply mode is a great way to solve the problem of efficient construction. Reasonable deployment of channel and network security control must meet the requirements of the electricity security.WSN technology is applied to distribution communication network and transmission line condition monitoring for survey validation based on the theoretical research of key technologies. We can use WSN as the main techniques of the last kilometer network of electric power communication terminal network planning. It has a broad application prospect in power system.
