After "The Internet of Things" was brought into the thematic planning of "the Twelfth Five-Year Plan" on July 23, 2010. "The Internet of Things" as one of the ten key words in the 2010 communications industry issued by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, turned up at the development of the situation report in 2011 China communication Industry. Comprehensive "The Internet of Things" development has been elevated to national development strategic levels. M2M(Machine to Machine,Mobile/Man to Machine and Machine to Mobile/Man) as the initial stage of "The Internet of Things" development, which plays a vital role in its development. On the one hand, major communications carriers' investment of technology and capital, which makes the cost of network continue to decline, and the performance of network continue to improve; on the other hand, the rapid development of embedded system and chip manufacturing process makes the number of terminal devices increase sharply. Under the combined effects of these factors, terminal devices with the function of networking communications become the trend and inevitable choice. Based on this reason, to built a simple and convenient integrate M2M terminal platform with higher feasibility, better generality and lower cost, which can make normal equipments with the function of networking communications to maximize intelligent and un-intelligent devices information and data sharing, to break the key bottleneck of M2M.Based on careful study development and applications of embedded system and wireless communication technology, the article adopts Samsung S3C2410A SoC chip which based on ARM920T core and SIM4100 module which made by SIMCom wireless module solutions supplier to design and implementation minimal M2M terminal platform. Given fully consideration about system portability and scalability, try to make common equipments have M2M function after simple expandedness.First given the total solution of designed system in this article, and then taken the development process of embedded system under Cygwin environment as main line, described in detail about the construction and implementation of platform for hardware and software, finally through expansion and implementation of the household monitoring system based on the M2M terminal with DS18B20 Digital temperature sensor to demonstrate platform Feasibility.By giving build process in detail of M2M terminal in the subject, On the one hand, try to give a feasible M2M terminal solution;on the other hand,try to find an embedded M2M development method with limited hardware, to make more and more people can understand and participate in embedded M2M development, so that to speed up the progress of "The Internet of Things" in China .
