Helmet mounted sight is an important equipment in the modern plane control system. It mainly helps the pilot to control the instruments and the weapons. There are several kinds of HMS based on working principles. This thesis is mainly focus on the research of HMS based on digital image processing. We use the method of digital image processing to measure the rotation angle of HMS.In chapter 1, we mainly introduce the development of HMS and machine vision based on a lot of reference materials. The topic of the research is also introduced.Chapter 2 is focus on the relevant work about machine vision, such as camera calibration, distortion correct, the working principal of stereo vision system and so on. We introduce the common methods about camera calibration, common methods about distortion correct and the methods used in this research.Chapter 3 introduces one of the most important steps in machine vision-image matching. This part includes the image-matching methods people usually use in the research and the methods we choose in this thesis. In addition, this chapter mainly talks about the resolution of the stereo vision system.Chapter 4 involves the solution of the topic-measurement of the rotation angle of HMS. We show the experiments data in this part and analysis the experiment results and the solution.The last part of the thesis, we summarize our research topic and give a deeper research direction.
