With the rapid development of internet of things in recent years, the application of it has become increasingly wide, including sensory network, cloud computing and service-oriented software. All these factors contribute to the complication of applied system function, the growing scale and the variety of the connection among systems. In line with this trend, various applied software systems including the internet of things are developing from the closed, unitary ones to the more open ones. The System of Systems theory introduced in this thesis is used to solve the above problems. This thesis focuses on the formalization of System of Systems. This research work facilitates us to acquire a more profound research system on all stages of life cycle, the characteristic and function of components, and provides the guide for the System of Systems to realize its ever-changing business goal. The thesis studies the related basic theories of System of Systems, followed by the framework methods. Base on the mentioned technology, this thesis constructs three function frameworks on large-scale applied software system and describes the abstract description on every framework using group theory of Modern Algebra, considering the framework as set, the units of framework as elements, and the connection among units as operation in the set. Therefore, the framework could be formalized as a semi-group. At the same time, the thesis describes also the abstract description on the connection among frameworks, sets mappings between frameworks to form a Semi-group homomorphism. Finally this thesis takes an illustration of CRM application system based on NGOSS to prove the above methods and shows a prospect of System of Systems in the future.
