Wireless Industrial Communication is a latest concept in the field. The mature products based on wirelessHART and its application is only available in foreign countries. Our country lacks related products. For the purpose of connecting the existing HART instruments to the wireless network, The WirelessHART adapter is designed to upgrade the traditional HART instruments and thus achieves wireless industrial communication.The power of the wireless adapter, taken from 4-20mA circuit loop, is very limited. So the wireless adapter is sensitive to power consumption. To solve this problem, some special designs have been made in the part of power supply. I use the DC-DC boost converter, choose large capacitor to store the energy, choose low power devices, and take the sleep/wake-up method to lower the power consumption. The wireless communication protocol is designed on the base of IEEE 802.15.4, and the TDMA sub-layer above the MAC layer is designed for lime Division Multiple Access.The low-power of wirelessHART adapter is researched in this paper. The wirelessHART adapter is designed to transmit measurement data and instrument status information of field devices to the upper system through the wireless network. Meantime, WirelessHART adapter collects analog loop current data and outputs it by wired/wireless digital communication means.The wirelessHART adapter designed initially in my research has a very low power consumption. The TDMA, used in wireless communication, not only lowers power consumption effectively, but also improves its real-time and reliability.
