The waterproof material is an important part of the material industries, and it is a necessary functional material for the construction industry and other related industries, and the quality and performance of waterproof material is an important part of ensuring the quality of construction. With the rapid development of construction, waterproof material usage is increased substantially. Waterproof membrane has been widely used because of its excellent features and low price, such as bridges, tunnels, highways and building, etc. National standard have different requirements for different materials of membrane. The main parameters measured for membrane include thickness, tear strength, area and impermeability, etc. Thickness is a very important aspect of parameters. In this paper, a new system for membrane thickness measurement and control had been researched and designed.The production process of membrane thickness and the key equipment of membrane thickness were analyzed in this paper, and the methods of measurement and control system were determined. According to the characteristics of membrane thickness measurement, CCD laser displacement sensors should be installed in the U-shaped rack which is controlled by stepper motor to ensure the entire membrane cross-section can be precise measured. This system combined the advantages of traditional PID control and Fuzzy control, and designed a Fuzzy PID controller of membrane thickness control system.In this paper, this system was designed to use S3C2440A as core, and included thickness acquisition module, thickness control module, keyboard module, display module, temperature sensor and alarm device module. After converting thickness analog signal to digital signal and send the digital signal to S3C2440A, system will display the right thickness results and output the signal of stepper motor controller through the computation of fuzzy PID control algorithm. Fuzzy PID controller of the system was simulated and its result showed that this controller had good control effect. Practical application shows that the system can effectively inhibit the exotic variety of interfering factors and achieve goal of non-contact high-precision dynamic measurement and control of the thickness of waterproof membrane.
