Resolution and screen's cleanliness are the important performance parameters of a low-light image intensifier which is also called (image intensifier tube).The current resolution testing and screen's cleanliness testing is done by eyes' observation, but they both have some shortcomings such as the testing results vary from people to people, testing efficiency is low, labor-intensive and so on. In this background, this paper studies using an objective evaluate method to test the low-light image intensifier's resolution, and use the digital image processing technology to detect the screen's defect.This paper describes the current development of the low-light night vision and the typical functions of the low-light night vision device; described the basic structures and working principle of the low-light image intensifier.Introducing the performance parameters of image intensifier, especially the test conditions and the test principle of the resolution Analysis the test principle of the screen's defect. On the basis of the above theories and system's technical indicators, manufactured the low-light image intensifier's resolution testing system which consists of optical structure, mechanical, computer and testing software.Combining digital image processing method and digital signal processing method to detect the resolution image. Using resolution testing system to detect some different low-light image intensifiers, testing results are in good agreement. On the basic of the low-light image intensifiers'resolution test system, design the optical path, Constitute the defect's detecting experimental system of image intensifiers'screen. According to the definition of screen's defects and the differences between the screen defects'gray and the background's gray and the theory about digital image processing, proposing the digital image processing method of detecting the screen's defects. Completed the image's binaryzation and region growing and edge detection. Using this system, done some experiments, the paper presents and analyzes the results.
