The Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) is combined by lots of resource-limited sensor nodes in the deployed areas. Every node has limited computing capability and storage resources. In recent years, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are given more attention and widely used.Meantime,most WSN applications such as military and business affairs have high-level security requirements, but traditional cryptography will be no longer suitable for WSN.Encryption is one of the methods to protect the information privacy. Although symmetric key cryptography has low computing cost, it has the difficulty of providing high-level security because it is vulnerable to be attacked. Asymmetric key cryptography like RSA needs high computing cost and extra infrastructure like PKI (Public-Key Infrastructure), which is also not suitable for WSN.Identity-Based Encryption is an elliptic curve cryptography type algorithm, so its public key is much smaller compared with other asymmetric key cryptography algorithms at the same security level. The basic concept of the algorithm is that the public key could be any kind of string like Mac address, e-mail, name and so on, without using PKI to distribute the license. So it is very suitable for the WSN. This thesis mainly discusses how to deploy the IBE algorithm into the WSN. It first gives an illumination of wireless sensor network, basic knowledge of elliptic curve cryptography, it analyses the complexity, security, RAM demand and optimization, then realizes the IBE algorithm in the 8bit,16bit,32bit CPU. The result shows that the WSN with IBE algorithm is available and effective.
