Research Of A System Of Online Cigarette Detection Based On Machine Vision

On the production line of cigarette packing, it's need to detect the cigarette packets whether the cigarette packets or the tobacco is full or not, and remove defective cigarette packets. At present, in domestic cigarette factories, they mostly use the method of photoelectric conversion. There are many problems in this method such as too many detecting devices, it easily influenced by surrounding dust and tobacco's color. There is still erroneous judgement in our process of using it.The paper proposes a method of cigarette detection which is online and based on machine vision. And it describes the design of the hardware circuit and the software, it finally achieves the target.According to the features of the image in which cigarette packets or the tobacco is not full, this paper firstly studies on the algorithm of these images, which is used to judge the images whether cigarette packets or the tobacco is full or not. In the article, it gives the algorithms of removing the noise, detecting cigarette packets and the tobacco which is not full. Then it uses digital cameras gathering the images, and proves the algorithms through MATLAB7.0.Then, the paper gives the design of the hardware circuit. The paper selects LPC2136 as the microcontroller which is 32 bit RISC controller based on ARM7TDMI-S, CMOS digital image sensor OV7620 gathering the cigarette images, data storage chip AL422B whose data is first in and first out and uses high-power white light LED as its light source.Finally, it uses embedded C language to design the software of this system. The paper gives the thought of the software's design and the procedure of it.This subject derives from some Cigarette Detection Equipment Manufacturing Company. We have made the experiments in some cigarette factory, the device successfully detects the cigarette packets whether the cigarette packets is full or not. The test results indicate that the time which this system uses is very short, the system can remove the defective cigarette packets. The results satisfies the demand of the national standards.
