Roundness tolerance of cigarette holder rod is advantage and disadvantage willdirectly affect the quality of tobacco production and efficiency, when its roundnesstolerance exceed, tastes bad, poor flue gas filter effects, troublesome of latervolume joint. Cigarette holder rod’s roundness tolerance occurred deviation mainlydue to the condition occurred random deviations of production equipment. So inorder to ensure the quality of production, cigarette holder rod’s roundness tolerancemust be monitored.Because of the complexity and randomness to detect roundness,so currently general roundness measuring method have many shortcomings, stillneed a lot of improvement. Detect for roundness of cigarette holder rod based onimage processing can be effective to overcome the lack of conventional method,achieve scientific result, so is hot research areas of cigarette holder rod.The main research of this paper is to detect the roundness of cigarette holder rodbased on image processing, from the technology research project “cigarette holderrod imaging measure technology research”(number: B20111501) of Hubei ProvinceOffice of Education. This article according to the cigarette holder rod’s imagecharacteristic, to compare multiple histogram equalization method, analyzing theirperformance and applicability on cigarette holder rod image, improve cigaretteholder rod’s image contrast based on method of adaptive equalization enhancementalgorithm of dual-platform histogram is presented; after comparative analysis, letenhanced image using adaptive threshold median filtering for smoother; let filteredimage proceed iterative segmentation; using morphological edge detection to extractboundary; using least-square circle fitting centre and radius, using least-square circleevaluation roundness tolerance and centre, through calibration coefficient calculatedactual roundness tolerance, compare it with the stipulation roundness tolerance,figure out it whether conformity; developed a man-machine interface display variousparameters and result by adopts object-oriented method under the VC++6.0 environment. So this method is practical in the cigarette holder rod image processing,it is able to increase the efficiency and accuracy of roundness measurement.
