Using Power Distribution Network to transmit information gets more attentions,because Power Distribution network is widespread. The information transmission in Power Distribution Network is greatly affected by its poor channel environment which is full of noise and attenuations. This paper mainly discusses how to improve the transmission performance of Power Distribution Network with multi-user. OFDM modulation technology is used in physical layer of Power Distribution Network to resist the disturbance of characteristic of power line channel. Many users share one common channel in Power Distribution Network, so it is necessary to take access control strategy in the medium access control layer to allocate channel resources reasonably.According to the actual physical Power Distribution Network, a network model is constructed and the access control strategy is discussed. First,the transmission characteristics of Power Distribution Network are discussed and the OFDM technology is introduced. Then the ALOHA, CSMA, Reservation, Polling, PRMA and Reservation-Polling access control strategy are mainly described. The performance of Power Distribution Network using the Reservation-Polling access control strategy is evaluated. The analysis results show the performance of network is good enough to transmit the voice data when the channel is badly disturbed by noise, as the Power Distribution Network takes the Reservation-Polling access control strategy. So the Reservation-Polling access control strategy is suitable for the Power Distribution Network.
