Under the continuous development of electronic technical, we has higher request on energy consumption and size to electronic component. Visual inspection with supporting of microscope is the very common inspection method after production but it can not meet our request on inspection efficiency or accuracy level. Meanwhile, visual inspection has brought the constraint to technology development and quality level increase for PCBA production, so visual inspection has been a bottleneck in front us. To improve the PCBA production, we import the (AOI) Automatic Optic Inspection equipment.CCD imaging sensor was widely used on traditional AOI equipment, but to increase AOI equipment performance, we have to solve three defects. First is how to increase the concentration level which includes LED lighting system, imaging system, data transportation system, image managing system. Second is arithmetic, which mainly refers to components recognition and imaging comparison efficiency. Third is to decrease the cost of imaging system. For CCD imaging sensor, the electric charge move to reading area under line unit one by one that limit the working frequency. Moreover, whole one line data will fail to transfer in case one electric charge does not work, that's why the cost of CCD imaging system keeps on a high cost level.But CMOS imaging sensor can solve above defects. In this article, we choose the MT9D111 of MICRON as an example to introduce the application of CMOS imaging sensor on AOI equipment. CMOS imaging sensor can provide better performance on efficiency and cost control than CCD imaging sensor.
