Now projector is widely applied to people's daily work, study, life, along with growth of multimedia teaching, business, entertainment demand, at present the projector market is fast growing by 30% every year. In 2010 output value of projector is up to 26 billion RMB, annual output of 7.1 million units, more than 70% for export, and at the same time in China sales of projector market also the first time exceeded 1 million sets. Projector is a energy-consuming consumer electronic products, and it is also a emerging industry in our country. When low-carbon lifestyle, energy saving and environmental protection become mainstream direction of our country and the world sustainability development, reducing power consumption will be an important direction of projector technology development. There are many ways to reduce power consumption of projector, such as reducing the power consumption of the light source and IC, etc. From aspect of analysing the standby power consumption of projector, this paper study to reduce standby power consumption by power management and standby mode control. General view is that power consumption of electronic products in standby mode is low, in fact this differs greatly with the facts. Research shows that electronic equipment and power converters in standby mode or no load still consume large amounts of energy. This standby power is usually in order to keep a ready condition and provides the convenience for normal use. But in some cases, it is not useful function for standby power to support.Research in this paper is to design a control module based on the WT6702F micro controller, in standby mode, projector will transfer control from DDP2230 to micro controller, micro controller only make a few module to work in standby mode in charged status, such as remote control module, control key module, communication module in charged status, which can be awakened by user operation any time, and most other module will only be in charged status just after projector start up, such as video decoder, A/D decoder, DMD controller, etc. So just a few circuit module to work in standby mode will consume energy, by Optimizing power management, standby mode power consumption of projector can be reduced to lower than 0.9 watts, but for projector of no this design, its standby mode power consumption generally is above 4 watts.
