Layer rock is some complex crude rock composed of many different property, different thickness rocks. In recent years, with the development of GIS and Geographic space information technology.3D visualization technology plays a very important role in layered rock-mass research area. Researchers dedicate to utilizing dynamic 3d visualization simulation technology, scene modeling technology and graphical image processing technology, have developed a real and comprehensive virtual environment system about a particular layered rock-mass area. This makes the geological scientists more intuitive understanding not only in the study of geological information or the working area overall distribution, but also deep understanding of various geological phenomenon occurrence, development and influence.This paper analyzes the 3d modeling of layered intrusions and visually analysis the key technological problems, and simply describes author's preliminary development research in rock mass of 3d modeling and visualization development research results. Thesis studies the key technical problems of the 3d layer formation modeling and list the results mainly as follows:(1) The true 3d data structure of layer rock research. At the conclusion of the analysis of the traditional 3d modeling method based on the layered strata, from massive data extracted from key data and create based on matrix 3d data structure, stored data structure and hence construct 3d body data, conduct 3d modeling.(2) True 3d stratigraphic modeling technology research. Analysis of the geological structure forms of common and layered rock-mass geological information and layer model data structure are analyzed. For most of the geological tectonic speaking, stratigraphic or surrounding rock can be considered a expression of geological structure, so the uniform surface by using multi-level modeling method DEM modeling of stratified layers.(3) Layer rock-mass 3d visualization technology research. Firstly complete level triangle network, improve level interpolation processing precision, then improved modeling based on two-dimension plane modeling light transmission algorithm, using in the matrix of the oriented IDL array operation and graphic image processing function is constructed, layer model, thus realize the body data visualization.(4) Realizing a platform of layered rock 3d visualization system based on the.NET and IDL environment. The main functions of a system, inputting data modeling, surface and body modeling and visualization. Rotating, amplification, and some basic operations, and the extraction operation of some key geological information for example:extraction of slices, contours, mapping surface texture.
