In order to guide coal roadway work and determine the thickness of roadway surrounding rock loose circle accurately and conveniently, the paper researches testing technology for loose circle.This paper firstly analyzes the common loose circle testing methods - acoustic method, multipoint displacement, Georadar method, seismic wave method, resistivity method, osmosis method, radioactive element method, optical microscope method. According to analyze, we get optical microscope method is convenient and quick to view aperture of drill. Paper designs the surrounding rock loose circle the video detection system from two aspects of hardware and software.The system hardware including:CMOS image sensors, a video acquisition card and computer. System is realized mainly through mixing programming of LabVIEW and MATLAB. the system support four video cameras work. We can independently choose camera to do image acquisition work. Image enhancement is carried by the contrast enhancement and wavelet de-noising methods to improve the image quality. Image registration is done through the method based on matching feature points. All images are rotated to the north direction will the first image as a benchmark. Then expand the image gradually, and drilling panoramic image is got in seamless through the coming into and out gradually method. Finally, the roundness values are solved according to the drilling panoramic of the different depth, and draw the relations curve diagram between the roundness value and drilling depth to determine the thickness of loose circle.According to the thickness of the loose circle, determine the roadway support mode and support parameters, to guiding roadway, ensure safety production in coal mine. The system is of the significant practical significance and certain popularize value.
