Following the rapid economic growth, the usage for highway and bridge is increasing exponentially, and heavy load vehicles are causing a lot more damage to the road surface compare to regular load ones. These types of damage to the bridge structure could cause premature fatigue of road and bridge. To provide early-warning to these types and of damages, and evaluate its safety, some of the foreign and domestic highways and bridges have incorporated some structure health monitoring system. But because of the complex nature of the monitoring system, it's expensive to manufacture and difficult to install. It's not well suited for regular bridges and roads. Based on this application principle, this article offers a compact health monitoring system design that is highly integrated, low on energy consumption, easy to install and inexpensive to manufacture.Because most of the damage to the road and bridge comes from its surface load, the real-time monitoring of the surface pressure and structure health is imperative. But currently, the traffic flow is very heavy; setting up static monitoring station can easily cause congestion and consequently negative social impact. It is better to set up a dynamic monitoring system to measure the road surface load while the vehicles are in motion. Our system will mainly use the dynamic real-time data collected from the sensors imbedded in the road surface, combined with the current damage analysis to determine the bearing capability of the road and bridge.According to the common design of health monitoring system, this article is divided into sensor array arrange system, AD sampling circuit, central processing unit, alarm driver circuit and communication circuit. The alarm array arranges system designed a method for laying out sensors that can accurately identify vehicles, and monitor their weights under heavy traffic. Then utilizing sampling system to convert analog variables into digital variables, for they are compatible with the back-end digital circuit for post processing. The system will also restrict certain vehicles that are overweight, take image sampling and send off alarm for vehicles in violations, and transfer the collected pressure data to remote data center in a variety of format for further structure health monitoring analysis. Our system is highly integrated, the pressure monitoring error rate for vehicles in normal speed is under 10%, and can accurately monitor the load for road and bridge in real time. Especially since the simple nature of the system's structure, it's easy to manufacture, and be applied to any road and bridge. It can prevent cost as a project constraint and fill the blank for small structure health monitoring system.
