Three-dimensional reconstruction of medical image is one of the key technologies in field of medical visualization, it could provide information about the shape and the position of patient's focus, and it also could help doctors to make a more accurate diagnosis.This dissertation focuses on the 3D visualization of medical images based on surface rendering. Grounds on analysis of the surface rendering methods, refinements to both the modeling and the rendering processes are presented. The main points of this dissertation are as follows:1. Of the surface rendering algorithm marching cubes algorithm. Analysis of the algorithm ambiguity exists, redundant traversal problem, the problem of ambiguity, the use of asymptotic line method to determine and eliminate ambiguity, and achieved good results; of redundant traversal issues, and the application of a chain of queue based on seed fill algorithms iso-surface search method can effectively reduce the void volume element of the search, and achieve the desired experimental results.2. Iso-surface extraction algorithm for so-surface model generated by the second error metric (QEM) method simplified model, the model is introduced to the vertex of the curvature characteristics of the combined weight calculation, by calculating the minimum error of the merger to determine the new vertex position. Experimental results show that this method is effective to retain the graphical features of the original model in order to achieve real-time rendering more convenient.3. Implemented based on VTK visualization system design, including model rendering, interactive display.4. In VC++6.0 environment, combined with three-dimensional visualization of medical image development kit developed three-dimensional reconstruction of subsystems and the subsystems integrated into the radiotherapy treatment planning system. This subsystem implements the modified marching cubes algorithm, mesh simplification algorithm and visualization development kit based on multi-planar reconstruction, completed the three-dimensional reconstruction, three-dimensional rotation, spatial distance between any two points of measurement and other functions, has been Radiotherapy was applied to the clinical experiment.
