As the developing of the city, the traffic system in big city is facing more and more pressure today. Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) plays an important role in urbanization, to solve the emergent problems in vehicle transportation. ITS involves data communication, electronic sensor, electrical control, computing technology etc. It is a transportation management system whose availability is timely, accurate and efficient in a large range. Vehicle monitoring system is the important component of ITS and also one of the key technologies of intelligent traffic mangement. The research of vehicle monitoring system has have great practical signature,especially in some specialized fields such as vehicle monitor in dangerous goods transport,bank note transport,military transport etc.The development process of a vehicle monitoring system is introduced in this thesis. This paper focuses on the design and implemention of two main subsystems of monitoring system. The architecture of system is C/S structure. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is chosen as the database,.net framework 3.5 is adopted as the development platform. Vehicle position is achieved based on GPS, therefore the vehicle can be traced real-timely, and instant information collection is guaranteed. GPRS is used as the communication mode, and MapX is selected as GIS platform. And on Windows operatingsystem the system is implemented. The functions of the system conclude vehicle satellite positioning, remote warning, vehicle information management. The main researches in this paper are as follows o(1) Through the analysis of system requirements and analysis of business processes, the overall framework of the system is established. On the basis, Composition of vehicle terminal,communication protocol,software and hardware of the monitoring center are introduced. Through the analysis of the database,the design of the database is finished.(2)The detail design of communication subsystem is given. Technical realization of key module is studied.(3)The design and implementation of the core subsystem(Monitor Subsystem) is discussed.Firstly,this paper surrounds the GIS integration secondary develop technology,including the organization and management for map,modeling of objects to be monitored based on the characteristic of MapX module.Then functional module of the subsystem is designed.Lastly, Technical realization of eye-map function, vehicle dynamic track display, trace replay are given. This research develop and implement a vehicle monitoring system.This vehicle monitoring system has been put into practical application at present.The successful application of the vehicle monitoring system will realize the remote vehicle monitoring and protect the vehicle security, and strengthen the ability of handling accidents. It can effectively improve the operational benefit of the vehicle, and has remarkable social benefit and economic benefit.
