The Research Of The Application Of Data Mining In Identifying The Financially Needed College Students

The work of financial aid of the financially needed students has drawn a great deal of attention from the government and society. The identification of a financially needed students is the primary link of the work. We have to accurately identify the students in real financial need before we can focus the target group with particular attention. Currently the tax system in China is not quite developed and thus cannot obtain the accurate data on the gross income of one household like the developed countries in the west. The difference between rural and urban areas plus other diversity of other geographic factors, identifying the students in real financial need has been universally regarded as a baffling puzzle. The classification of such students therefore is significant in both theoretical research and real occasions.The classification technology is a quite valuable, practical technique in data mining. Through the study of large amount of data we may analyze the relations between the condition property and decision property, construct the model of classification, and have a classification of future samples. Thanks to the high accuracy implementing efficiency, plus the fact that it is easy to understand, Decision Tree has become a widely used method of classification.On the bases of the existing research results, the article presents the Index System of classification of financially needed students, and use attribute reduction method in Rough Set Theory to reduce classified properties. On the bases of thorough study in classification method of Decision Tree, and with consideration of the practical problems in this classification process, it advances the corresponding measures of improvement about ID3 algorithm and C4.5 algorithm, and come up with the Decision Tree according to the classification problems. Algorithm presents practical solutions to the vital problems, such as Conversion from numerical property to discrete property, Attribute Selection and prune algorithm of Decision Tree.Finally, by the use of JAVA+MySQL technology, it achieves the classification system of financially needed college students based on the improved Decision Tree algorithm , realizes functions such as data processing, classified model mining of Decision Tree and classification of students and so on.
