Photoelectric encoder is a sophisticated and digital angle measurement device. It is widely used in radar, robotics, optical theodolite, CNC machine tools and many other fields. In recent years,with the development of National defense and industrial automation technology of our country, the demand of photoelectric encoder is also increasing. While the precision of the encoder is required to be detected before it is in using. For a mount of production of the encoder, the detecting work is a tedious process, so the paper designed an automatic detection system. It has great significance for improving the detecting efficiency, reducing manual operation and increasing the degree of automated detection.The characteristic of photoelectric encoder detecting equipment is studied based on the reference literature of home and abroad .A photoelectric encoder automatic detection system is designed based on the technical requirements of automatic detection system. The detection system consists of a reference encoder, data acquisition circuit, drives, components computer and so on.A high-speed dual serial, parallel data acquisition card is design based on DSPTMS320F2812 which can detect the serial, parallel photoelectric encoder of less than 16-bit automatically.The data processing procedure is written in VB language which completes the interface displaying, error handling, data storage and so on. The procedure replaces manual recording and error calculation which improves the the detection speed effectively.The data of 14-bit to 16-bit photoelectric encoder is collected and processed based on the method of this paper. Comparing the calculated error and the detection error from the conventional equipment, the value of them is approximately equal. The experimental result shows that the method can be used in error detection of bulk production of photoelectric encoder. The advantages are the high efficiency, reliable data, 1 detecting person and 8 to 10 times faster of detecting speed. The paper has important reference value in developing automatic detection system of photoelectric encoder.
