Pulse power technology has been used more and more abroad in military weapons, plasma generators and environment protecting technology. It is the investigate hotspot of many countries in recent years. By the present switching device characteristic is hard to satisfy the high voltage, the high voltage pulse power supply is focus on the topology to improve the output voltage level by serial or parallel connect the power switches. At the same time, this method can lead to the problem of absence of synchronism, difficult to control, voltage imbalance and waveform unstable, so how to design the topology rationally to satisfy the synchronizing drive, the voltage balancing and get a stable output waveform is the key problem of this paper.Based on technique of power electronics and pulse power, a high voltage pulse power supply with solid state switches using series connect IGBTs, which having high performance of expansion and extension, is proposed in the thesis. As the technology of series-connect IGBT is influenced by synchronizing drive, high voltage isolation and dynamic voltage balance, a simple synchronizing drive circuit which is controlled by the same PWM pulse, is designed. Pulse transformer can not only realize the isolation drive to IGBT, but also realize the output pulse synchronism.The pulse power supply developed in this paper has performance as following:the output pulsing voltage up to 20kV, the output pulsing voltage current up to 25A, the scope of pulsing frequency 1-20 kHz, the pulse width 1μs~20μs, and pulse rise time less than 600ns. The test circuit of this circuit gets expect, and stable experimental results. It can provide a high repetition rate pulse power with the voltage scope of 1~20kV, as well as the pulse width 1μs~20μs.
