CHSR plan to complete the "Four Vertical and Four Horizontal", and the total operations mileage will exceed 120,000Km in 2020. HSR has become the artery of China's economic development. How to ensure HSR security, scientific operation is the most important issues for the railway sector. Monitoring the safety of HSR has become the academic research focus.Paper chooses to the HSR tracks as the object of study, and builds the monitoring simulation platform based on WSN. Paper researches the factors, such as nodes and gateway configuration parameters, wireless environment, the number of nodes and physical topology, affecting the network coverage and performance. The core is how to scientific and rational place nodes and gateways, and provides theoretical support for the project construction.Paper divides tracks into different the state, and parallelâ…¢track is proposed as the starting of scene to build a prototype. Using MATLAB and NS2 is to simulate the network coverage and performance. The communication protocol of prototype is IEEE 802.11/IEEE 802.15.4 in 2.4GHz. From the perspective of signal propagation model, paper analysis of the factors affecting the network coverage. The relationship between thickness and quantity of the material loss, wireless signal propagation model correction and equipment differences in the face of the model have been researched. The revised model can be more truly reflect the nature of signal propagation coverage. For the study of factors affecting network performance, the prototype is reduced to a single node communicate with the gateway and multi-node communicates with the gateway. The former focuses on the network performance change with the different communication protocols, packet size, sending rate, node transmit power, gateway antenna height, and wireless communication environment. The latter focuses on the different number of nodes and different physical network topology for the network performance. Paper provides the specific the strategy for adjustment of network coverage, throughput, latency and packet loss rate, and the need for precautions.Paper provides the wireless nensor network prototype for the high-speed rail track monitoring system. The analysis of simulation serves as a guide to develop the implementation strategies and performance evaluation.
