Harmonic problem is getting more serious with the wide use of power electronic equipments and becomes the primary factor influencing power quality. Therefore, power quality compensation is a pressing problem in development of power electronic. Active power filter (APF) based on power electronic technology can be used to eliminate harmonic and improve power quality. Therefore research on APF has very important theoretical and practical significance.Based on a lot of technical literature, research status of APF is expounded, as well as relative merits of daily control technology on APF are analyzed. Single-phase shunt APF with one-cycle control is presented. Working process under different working mode is analyzed and the control circuit is designed in the dissertation. In order to verifying the validity and feasibility of this method, the simulation models of APF with one-cycle control under different working modes are build in PSCAD/EMTDC and compensation performance is simulated. Test of 200W single-phase shunt APF with one-cycle control is designed on the basis of simulation, corresponding hardware circuits are designed. Compensation performance is further researched by test. The results of simulation and test show that single-phase shunt APF with one-cycle control can get reference current without complicated calculations. This control system has many merits including: simple structure, good stability and smallest compensation currents. It has good compensation effect for harmonic and reactive current generated by nonlinear load. This dissertation provides theoretical and experimental guide for the application of APF.
