With the integration of telecommunication, internet and cable in China, a variety of integration services appear recent years. As one of them, IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) is the very point to carry out the triple-play business. Using multimedia, communications and other technologies, IPTV provides various interactive services for home users through set-top box. IPTV breaks the way which TV can only receive programs passively, and it's already become the direction of the development of a new generation of television. The key to succeed in promoting IPTV services is to establish a fully functional value-added services platform with good performance. IPTV value-added services platform must meet the diverse needs of users and be operating normally. And the most of all, the platform must provide high-quality services for users.IPTV value-added services platform consists of IPTV service management platform, content management platform and communication interface between platform and set-top boxes. Service management platform mainly provides operational support. It manages set-top boxes, and implements authentication based on a string of random bytes, and implements user and access management through role-based access control policy. Also, the service management platform provides online upgrade function for set-top boxes and monitors all computer servers and network; Content management platform uses CDN (content delivery network) to deliver content to users, and manages the maintenance of IPTV content and service charges, and maintains the content digital rights using 3DES encryption algorithm; The interactive interface between platform and set-top box defines an interface specification, which uses the technology of XML(extensible markup language) as a message oriented middleware. The XML middleware can make the interaction of set-top box and platform smoothly ignoring differences between hardware and software environment.
